Marble and Oak Kitchen

A kitchen that had collected six finishes over three renovations, none of them wrong on their own, all of them wrong together.

The brief

Reduce the palette without replacing the cabinetry, which was sound and barely eight years old.

What changed

We kept the oak and the marble and removed everything else — the glass splashback, the steel shelf, the painted trim, the second stone. The room reads as calm now, and the only new material is a single length of unlacquered brass that will darken over time.
