The Quiet Loft

Eleven hundred square feet, entirely open, and impossible to be alone in. Sound travelled the full length of the floor and every activity was visible from every point.

The brief

Three distinct rooms. No new construction, and no loss of the light that made the loft worth buying.

What changed

Two bookcases, one curtain and a change in floor covering did the work of three walls. The zones are legible from anywhere in the loft, but none of them close, and the window wall is still uninterrupted end to end.
