Study, North Light

A small room at the back of the house, used for storage, with the best light in the building falling across boxes nobody had opened.

The brief

A working room for one person. Quiet, warm in winter, and organised around the north light rather than in spite of it.

What changed

The desk sits perpendicular to the window so the light crosses the work rather than glaring behind it. Storage was built low along one wall, kept under sill height, so nothing interrupts the view out. The walls were left the colour they already were.
